“Sous le ciel de Paris” Zaz & Pablo Alborán

“Sous le ciel de Paris” was written by Jean Dréjac and Hubert Giraud for Julien Duvivier’s eponymous 1951 film. In the film, the song was performed by Jean Bretonnière. It was subsequently recorded and performed by Anny Gould, Juliette Gréco, Édith Piaf, and Yves Montand, becoming a symbol of Paris.

I love this cover—a collaboration between French singer-songwriter Zaz (Isabelle Geffroy) and one of my Spanish favorites, Pablo Alborán (Pablo Moreno de Alborán Ferrándiz)—and especially, the video’s focus on graffiti, urban art, and animation as it meanders around Parisian streets, bridges, monuments, and rooftops. This fantastic video was directed by Tunisian-born French visual artist Raphaël Thierry and French director and visual artist Christian Volckman.
